Scarlett Witch
Real Name: Wanda Maximoff Lensherr Affiliation: X-Men Height: 5'7" Weight: 130 lbs. Eyes: Blue Hair: Auburn Relations: Magneto (Father), Quicksilver (Brother), Relations: Rogue (Stepmother), Charles Lensherr (Half-Brother) Status: Deceased (Nemesis) The Scarlet Witch possesses the mutant power of affecting probability fields. By a combination of gestures and mental concentration, she creates a hex-sphere, a finite pocket of reality-disrupting quasi-psionic force, which upon reaching its intended target, causes disturbance in the molecular-level probability field surrounding the target. Thus, unlikely phenomena will occur. These phenomena occur practically instantaneously after the completion of her hex. Her range of hex-casting is limited by her line of sight. The reliability factor of her hex-casting ability is also limited by her physical condition. When well rested, in good health, and mentally and emotionally alert, Scarlet Witch can cast numerous hex-spheres in rapid succession and attain desirable results for an hour. Pietro and his sister Wanda were living a quiet life in the Transian countryside with their adoptive family when their true father came back into their lives. Magneto informed them they were mutants and offered his children a place by his side. They agreed to help him teach the world about the now emerging mutantkind and of his dream of mutants and humans living side by side. Together, they became the first X-Men. When Apocalypse's the Horsemen attacked Cape Citadel in hopes of taking control of the United States' Nuclear Defense Arsenal, all of the X-Men but Wanda went to stop them. She was left behind to take care of the other students and the school in case the X-Men failed in their mission. Their base in Wundagore undefended, Nemesis infiltrated the X-Men's headquarters and killed the Scarlet Witch who sacrificed herself to save the others. Wanda's last request was that Rogue be a friend to her father Magneto who had a great burden and needed to feel love. In our reality, Wanda Maximoff was a member of the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants until they were defeated by the Stranger. Afterwards, both Quicksilver and his sister the Scarlet Witch quit the Brotherhood and joined the Avengers, a world-renowned team of super heroes. At one point during her career as an Avenger, the Scarlet Witch underwent training in sorcery under the tutelage of a true witch named Agatha Harkness, enabling her to exercise much greater control over her mutant hexes than ever before. While an active member of the Avengers, she became romantically involved with and married the synthetic man Vision. Eventually, the couple bought a house in Leonia, New Jersey, and retired from active membership. By warping probabilities, Wanda managed to be impregnated by the artificial Vision. They have since had twin Thomas and William. |
