While Illyana Rasputin was stuck in the Seattle Core, she would ask May to tell her about sunlight. May would reply that there was not much to say. It was warm, light, and gone to them forever. She encouraged Illyana to be quiet and work instead. Work would set them free. When Mondo came to rescue Illyana, she was frightened by the mutant and cried to May for help, but she ran away, telling Illyana she was on her own. Mondo retorted that she was not alone at all... They would be together. Mondo grabbed Illyana and disappeared, leaving May by her lonesome, telling herself maybe the child would see sunlight again. She is presumed to have been killed during the riots in the Core.
