Karma has the psionic ability to take possession of the minds of others, controlling their actions and experiencing what their senses perceive. During the possession her subject's higher brain functions revert to diminished levels, similar to their state in a dreamless sleep, and the subject is left with no memory of the actual possession. If she remains in possession of a host for too long she will begin to think and act as her host would, and eventually her own personality would become subordinate to one identical to the host's. Karma can also possess multiple subjects simultaneously, though her control over her subjects can fragment as she shifts her attention from one to another.

Karma and her partner Warren Worthington run the profitable penthouse nightclub in Manhattan called Heaven. When Sebastian Shaw witnessed the thief Gambit meetingwith the Angel, Karma was captured by Shaw and interrogated while detained. When she refused to co-operate with Shaw and Rex, she was subjected to probes by the Shadow King. When the minions of Apocalypse finished with Karma, she was discarded outside Apocalypse's stronghold and later discovered by her partner Worthington whose arms she would die in.
