Jubilee
Real Name: Jubilation Lee Affiliation: X-Ternals Height: 5'5" Weight: 105 lbs. Eyes: Blue Hair: Black Status: Unknown Jubilee has the ability to generate energy globules that vary in degrees of power and intensity. The globules obey her mental control, traveling where she directs them, arranging themselves in balls, streamers, and other shapes, and exploding when she wishes. These combinations may result in anything from a multitude of colorful sparkles capable of temporarily blinding a person to a fairly powerful detonation, capable of smashing tree trunks or metal objects. She can absorb these fireworks back into her own body without harm to herself. She was conned into joining the X-Ternals by Gambit in order to live on the outside and over the edge; rob from the rich, give to the poor humans, and throw a monkey wrench into an already screwed up system. She figured that, if she had to go out, it would be in a blaze of glory trying to do something, a decision that her friend Everett never had a chance to make. When the X-Ternals returned to Earth with a shard of the M'kraan Crystal, Jubilee and Guido Carosella were responsible for the conveyance of the Crystal to the X-Men. However, Guido betrayed the X-Ternals, causing Jubilee to flee in the Morlock Tunnels where she would discover am abandoned Charles Lensherr, son of Magneto. With each twist and turn of the underground seeming the same, Jubilee got lost in the sewer maze and was eventually found by Carosella who would force Jubilation to forfeit both the crystal shard and baby Charles. Jubilee along with Gambit and Lila Cheney would all later be found by Dazzler and Exodus and the party returned to what remained of the X-Men's headquarters in Westchester, New York. From there, Jubilation opted to join the X-Men's infiltration of Apocalypse's citadel in New York. She was last seen alongside the victorious X-Men as they emerged to witness the nuclear air raid that somehow failed. In our reality, Jubilation Lee was born and raised in Beverly Hills as the daughter of two prosperous Chinese immigrants who had a bad turn of fortune and lost their money in the stock market and were then mistakenby hitmen for their neighbors and killed them. Orphaned and impoverished, with nowhere to live, Jubilee was sent to the Los Angeles County Juvenile Hall where she learned how to defend herself and became rebellious towards authority resulting in arrangements to send her away. Fearing that she might eventually be shipped to her only living relatives, who were in Communist China, Jubilee ran away to the Hollywood Mall where she survived on petty thievery. Novice mutant hunters known as the M Squad were contracted to capture Jubilee, but were rescued by the X-Men Dazzler, Psylocke, Rogue, and Storm. Fascinated by these women, Jubilee followed them until they exited via a teleportation portal provided by the mutant aborigine Gateway where the X-Men were then based. Here she would encounter the Reavers who had captured and crucified the X-Man Wolverine. After Wolverine succeeded in freeing himself, Jubilee helped him escape to safety. Over the following months Jubilee accompanied Wolverine in his travels through Asia and he became like a second father to her and she, too, would become an X-Man. After the X-Men defeated the techno-organic Phalanx race, Professor Charles Xavier decided to found a new school where the various teenage mutants whom the Phalanx had captured would be trained in the uses of their superhuman powers. Xavier proceeded to assign Jubilee to join this new team dubbed Generation X because she happened to be in their age group. However, Jubilation was not happy with this decision, seeing her reassignment as a demotion. Eventually, Jubilee became the team player in Generation X that she had been with the X-Men. |
