Sam, Elizabeth, and Paige Guthrie were orphans discovered by Sinister. He took an immediate interest in the mutant siblings and offered to sponsor them as members of the empire. While Sam and Elizabeth accepted this gesture, Paige refused and would eventually side with the X-Men. Elizabeth and Sam became the most recent additions to the Elite Mutant Force just before the fall of Apocalypse. After their leader was deposed, the siblings caught wind that Paige had been left for dead by the X-Men in the Seattle Core and took off in search of their sister who had turned her back on them years ago. They discovered her shackled to a wall starving to death and nursed her back to health. Around this same time, they discovered that another of their siblings had survived the cullings and lived through the Age of Apocalypse, their younger brother Josh. The reunited Guthrie Family crossed paths with Sinister once more and together they plotted against the X-Men with the added incentive of being able to take revenge on them for their desertion of Paige.

In our reality, Sam, Paige, and Josh Guthrie were also mutants, but joined the cause of Charles Xavier. Sam was the first, one of the initial recruits for the teen New Mutants, which would evolve into X-Force, and eventually join the X-Men. Similiarly, Paige was a founding member of Generation X, another adolescent team of mutants, before being called up to the X-Men. Josh would follow suit much later and become part of the second incarnation of the New Mutants. Elizabeth's power, if they exist, have yet to manifest themselves.
