Gorgon
Real Name: Unknown Affiliation: Inhumans Height: 6'5" Weight: 450 lbs. Eyes: Brown Hair: Brown Relations: Death II, Black Bolt, Crystal, Karnak, Relations: Medusa, Rhino, Triton (Cousins) Status: Deceased (Sunfire) Gorgon's abilities are centered in his massively muscled legs and hoof-like feet. The lower half of his body makes up about three-quarters of his total weight, particularly the thick, dense muscles of his thighs and calves. As a result of exposure to the Terrigen Mist, Gorgon' s legs can generate vibration on a molecular level so as to develop an intense pulse of kinetic energy. He is able to create seismic tremors of up to 7.5 on the Richter scale. The actual Gorgon was killed by Death, the most dreaded Horseman of the High Lord Apocalypse. This Gorgon was concieved and bred on the genetic template of the dead Inhuman royal family using the Terrigen Mists. While En Sabah Nur was recovering from severe wounds suffered during an encounter with the X-Men, Death plotted to take the throne from En Sabah Nur. When he turned over the Terrigen Mists to Apocalypse, Death claimed control of the Horseman while Apocalypse was still at rest. While on his perch on Apocalypse's Celestial Ship, he encountered the very same X-Men who En Sabah Nur was unable to defeat and, along with his army of Inhumans, Gorgon included, was able to emerge victorious. During the battle, Karnak, Gorgon, and Triton would try to mount a sneak attack on Magneto. While their attempt was clumsy and obvious and Gorgon was easily brushed aside. Death's plans to usurp Apocalypse's power were thwarted when Cyclops aided Blink in the rescue of the X-Men and the destruction of Ship. Gorgon, Death, and the rest of the Inhumans were killed when Sunfire's powers flared out of control and incinerated Ship. In our reality, Gorgon was the only son of architect Korath and archivist Milena, leading citizens of the Inhumans' city-state Attilan. Korath was brother to Agon, king of the Inhumans. Thus, Gorgon is considered a member of the Royal Family. During Attilan's war with Triton, Gorgon was forced to flee his home along with disposed ruler Black Bolt and the rest of the Royals. The misunderstanding soon was resolved, and the outcasts returned to Attilan. Gorgon remains one of Black Bolt's most trusted aides, and one of Attilan's staunchest defenders. |
