Destiny has the psionic power of precognition, the ability to perceive the events of possible futures by mentally scanning the probability spectrum of alternate futures and mentally perceiving sounds and sights of events that distinguish them. The accuracy of Destiny's ability to foresee future events decreased in direct proportion to the distance those future events lie ahead in time. By active participation in the events around her, she can help shift the probabilities toward desired ends. Destiny's field of precognitive perceptions is limited to her what she could physically interact. Hence, she could not scan the future for events that might take place on the other side of the world.

After learning from Bishop that an alternate reality might exist where Apocalypse does not rule North America and Charles Xavier lived to lead the X-Men, Magneto sent Nightcrawler to Avalon retrieve Destiny to verify the madman's claims. She was reluctant at first, but agreed to leave after the destruction of Avalon and the death of her adoptive son Douglas Ramsey.

Irene was able to verify Bishop's claims when she came face to face with the M'kraan Crystal. In order to restore the natural timeline, she entered the crystal with Bishop and Illyana Rasputin. While inside, she helped Illyana to create a stepping disk for Bishop to travel back in time and stop Legion from killing his father. It is unknown what became of her afterwards.

In our reality, Destiny was a member of her longtime companion Mystique's Brotherhood of Evil Mutants that attempted to assassinate United States Senator Robert Edward Kelly. Destiny was slain by the Reavers, a team of criminal cyborgs. Her body was cremated and her ashes scattered at sea by Mystique.
